reflection
I think that the narrative worked well with the song choice especially with the theme of never ending and going in circles and the intertextuality of 'groundhog day' worked quite well. I think these elements together created a strong theme and message sort of. I think that I also include some good intertextual references especially with the font which I spent time on trying to match best with the Groundhog Day font and I think it payed off in the end. I also think the inclusion of puddles and waking up were good incorporations of intertextuality. I liked including the clock changing and I think that was probably the most obvious intertextual reference I think it being repetitive also emphasised the intertextuality and also went with the idea of groundhog day and going in circles, almost tying it all together. I also liked how I added in the idea of how its relevant to the present and lockdown being like groundhog day in doing the same thing every day and staying at home but also the fact that we went into multiple lockdowns and covid restrictions fluctuated a lot which made people feel like it would never end.
I don't think that my storyboard was very detailed or covered a lot. I could definitely do more in that area especially by including more about costume, transitions and mise-en-scene. I could do more advanced editing and have more thought through transitions. I could have included more lip-synching to show editing skills because there was very little lip-syncing in my video. I also think that I forgot to re size some shots to fit right and could think about filming it all the right way next time so that I don't have this problem. I could definitely of thought more about costume I tried to style my sister a bit like what Andie Mcdowell's character (rita) wears at one point but looking back I think it would have been more impactful and overall a better idea to dress her like the main character (Phil) played by Bill Murray. I think her wearing a trench coat type coat and trouser would have looked a bit odd but I think that would help people realise that its and intertextual reference and I think on top of that it would help it to be more resemblant of the film so it the video would seem more like a parody or more inspired by the film. I'm not sur whether I over used the clock clip or not I think I could have edited it more to the beat and that also applies to the rest of the video I think that would make it more cohesive and smooth running also more enjoyable to watch. I think I could also have done something about the end I think I choose a good place in the song to end but I could have faded it out a bit or done something like that.
